It’s not ‘just’ America. It’s all the Western ‘democracies’… and China too… the Thai oligarchy… it’s everywhere an ‘elite’ minority rules a majority, a majority too cowed or cowardly… or just too-overwieght… to do anything about it. The video has an entrenched point of view of its own… but it’s more nearly right than wrong in its conclusions.

John,
Thank you for posting this message. I agree that WE must be the change we are looking for. I have read and been told that we need a new Gandhi or a new Martine Luther King Jr. to lead us. I disagree totally. WE are that leader, WE MUST be that leader. It is OUR duty to fight back and retake the planet from the corporate ruling class. Occupy the whole world. We need to join with Anonymous, we must be a part of that. We are legion, We do not forget, we do not forgive. Expect us. No kidding, if we don’t act, who will?
It is our duty to defend human liberty by whatever means each of us is capable of doing. If we fail to stand up for liberty and human decency, then ALL is lost forever. We are now at the point where the children in school today will NOT even have a life as good as, let alone better than, that of their parents. Think about that fact America. Your children will NOT even have life as good as you have it today. This is the first time in the history of America that this is true. The “American dream” has been replaced with the “‘Merikkkan nightmare”. It is time to jail the war criminals and to overthrow the “too big to fail” banksters and their pals the war industries.
Sad to say it, but I’m coming round to the view that John N Gray is mostly correct (that the idea of human progress is a myth).
Yeah… but that’s cause for rejoicing not despair. The ‘progress’ myth… everyday in everyway life is getting just a little bit better, here in the best of all possible worlds… was the recipe for hands off laissez faire-ism that has brought us to our present sorry straits.
No. We are in the same position we have always been and will always be in : the masters and mistresses of our fate… or our own victims.
Someone, Robert Shetterly, pointed out not one but many Americans who tell the truth, and among them I was taken by Ella Baker and her saying, “Strong people don’t need strong leaders.” That resonates with me and its great to hear you saying exactly the same thing, Charlie.
Reminds me of an old… “Irishman”… an American, the youngest in his family, who used to tell me of conversations he’d had as a child with his mother about the chores around the house, when his elder siblings were not at home and he, at his tender age, was left alone with his mother… and the coal needed to be hauled, or something else that one of his big brothers would have had much less trouble accomplishing, needed doing. He’d complain bitterly of the fact to his dear mother. But his mother would reply, “Yes, dear… but you’re the only one here.”
And we’re the only ones here now Charlie. As you point out. There’s no one to do what must be done but ourselves.
Write-in your choices for the elected offices you constitute… work for the restructuring of our constitution… to make it harder for an ‘elite’ to smash and grab control and to give us, the people, a little, silver hammer with which to break the glass in emergencies… when they do make their move to do so… to fight back to maintain control of our country.
Talk the talk to everyone you meet, walk the walk on each occasion as the road rises up to meet you. We who believe in freedom cannot rest.
That doesn’t mean I think we should stop trying though.
